We are going to The Gambia at the end of this year and are renting for six months but have done everything personally ourselves and followed it through. Feel that this is how it should be considering (all due respect) the culture. Get a solicitor and keep tabs on EVERYTHING as much as possible.

As regards flights we are going with The Gambian Experience web site:- www.gambia.co.uk Mainly because we have to have fixed dates! (unfotunately!) Unless you are flexible with your travel dates or can go at short notice these people are the best option. You may be able to find a cheaper flight though if you shop around the companies that go from UK are:-

Thompson Holidays, First Choice, Airtours, Unijet(?), Luxor Travels, Travel Economy. A couple of them may not be in your locality but worth having a look.

I would also keep my eye on the teletext web site or on the TV as they alway's have good flight deals on the go.

if you want to buy something organised you could consider buying from a company called Brittish web, you can find the site on gambiagateway tripod, or you can consider buying from TAF they have a new beachsideproject at Brufut, you pay the money and they do the rest, they have a big choice of houses. another option is buying from the Social Security, Housing and Finance Corporation in Banjul, they are starting with Brusubi 2 now. in Brusubi 1 you will find in our street more English people who are retired, if you like you can even rent our completely furnished house for a longer period

GTS supports and helps members find and purchase land and we can assist with the building project work. The other replies on the forum provide good advice if you want ready built property or project estate housing.



There are few cheap flights options during those months as all but the Gambia Experience tour operators stop flying around the end of May, swapping their planes to more lucrative short haul flights. There are a few Internet sites and independent operators who can shave £10 or £15 off Gambia Experience prices.
